Back to the Future

Director Zemeckis takes a new/old path.

Animated American will involve a reality of both cartoons and live-action people. The plot follows a cartoon baby raised by "humans" who, on his 18th birthday, decides to go in search of his birth family. ...

"Cartoon baby" sounds like we might see another Disney project drawn by hand, yes? That would make a lot of animators (and assistants) who love the old style happy.

Wasn't that the story of the planned Roger Rabbit sequel? I remember hearing that it was Roger is raised by humans and when he finds out the truth he seeks out his birth family. The rumors said he was going to move to Hollywood and share an apartment with a stuntman to be played by Tom Cruise. Or something like that...

It sounds like Bob Z still likes the story idea but has no love for Disney these days, so no Roger.

Ah, I guess it is a Disney project after all, forget my previous comment. It's late.

I worked on the "Roger" prequel some years ago and Bobby Z wanted no part of it.

Or so he says...

I first heard about this film (same title, and with Zemeckis and Disney involved) almost half a decade ago at http://jedaniels-adventures.blogspot.com/2006/10/disney-to-release-animated-american.html

Good ideas never die.

Also, in Hollywood, other kinds of ideas never die.

I agree with Palmer; James Baker's and Joe Haidar's film looks great. They just need the money to make it into a feature. (Don't they always)
